Meghan's Bio

An admissions consultant with fifteen years of experience supporting students and families through the college application process, Meghan holds a BS in English and psychology from St. Lawrence University and an MS in applied educational psychology with a focus in school counseling from Northeastern University. Meghan started her career working at a boarding school as an assistant dean of students while also coaching ice hockey. “Those combined experiences made it clear that I wanted to work more closely with students in a developmental and guidance-focused role,” Meghan reflects, noting that this led her to pursue her master’s in school counseling and that, during her practicum, she was placed in a large Boston public school with a high caseload. “I really loved that work. It was a great blend of relationship-building, strategy, and helping students navigate an important transition in their lives.” After graduate school, Meghan returned to the independent school world and worked in admissions at a prep school. “When a college counseling position opened, I transitioned into that role, and I’ve been doing it ever since,” Meghan shares.
Meghan’s favorite part about working in admissions is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and their families during such an important and personal time in their lives. “The college process can feel like a roller coaster, and I value being a steady, trusted presence who can bring clarity, calm, and structure to what can sometimes feel overwhelming,” Meghan says. She loves helping students discover their path. “Not just where they get in, but where they will thrive,” Meghan clarifies. “Guiding them through that journey, helping them grow in confidence, and seeing it all come together at the end is incredibly rewarding. It’s a privilege to be part of that process.”
Meghan has worked with a wide range of student pathways throughout her career, particularly in athletic recruiting, financial aid, and secondary school admissions. However, as a former Division I student-athlete, as well as a high school and college coach, she has extensive experience working with student-athletes and their families. “I understand the nuances of the recruiting process, what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level, and how athletics can meaningfully shape a student’s college options,” Meghan explains; she has supported student-athletes across a variety of sports who have gone on to attend highly selective institutions, such as Penn State, MIT, Williams, Middlebury, Naval Academy, William & Mary, and more. Additionally, Meghan’s experience living and working at boarding schools for over ten years has given her significant exposure to international students. “I’ve worked with students applying to colleges in the United States as well as those exploring opportunities abroad, and I understand the differences in application processes, expectations, and timelines across systems.” Finally, Meghan also has deep experience in secondary school admissions and a strong understanding of the landscape of independent schools and the admissions processes associated with them.
From her perspective as a college counselor, Meghan recognizes that the admissions process is often both exciting and complex for students and families. “What I have found most effective is helping students approach the process with structure and intentionality,” Meghan says. “Thoughtful planning, clear timelines, and a well-paced approach can significantly reduce stress and allow students to engage more meaningfully with each stage of the process.” Meghan notes, however, that it’s important to recognize that college admissions is not an exact science. “While students can and should control their effort, preparation, and presentation, individual decisions are influenced by a variety of institutional factors beyond any one applicant’s control.” For that reason, Meghan emphasizes the importance of building a well-balanced and strategic college list and highlighting authenticity across the application. “In my experience, the most successful applications are those that genuinely reflect who the student is, their interests, values, and voice,” Meghan explains. “When students approach the process with honesty and self-awareness, they give admissions readers the best opportunity to understand them and to identify the environments where they will be a strong fit.” Ultimately, Meghan’s goal is to guide students and families through this process in a way that brings clarity, reduces stress, and leads to outcomes that are both meaningful and well-aligned with the student’s future goals.
Outside of college counseling, Meghan loves spending time with her family and supporting her children in the sports and activities they love. An English literature major, Meghan has always enjoyed reading a wide range of literature, from lighter fiction and beach reads to historical fiction and more classic authors like Thoreau. Running is also a big part of her life. “While I don’t run as far or as fast as I used to, I’ve completed seven marathons and still enjoy getting out for a run when I can,” Meghan shares. She also loves to travel and meet new people. “I’ve been fortunate to live in three different countries—the U.S., a French-speaking town in Quebec (Drummondville), and Lugano, Switzerland—and those experiences have given me a broader perspective that I carry into both my work and my everyday life.”
