PrepNow Tutor - Thomas S.

“I love mathematics, and sharing that knowledge and passion with other people,” Thomas says. A tutor for over seven years, Thomas holds a BS in physics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He started tutoring immediately after graduating, and eventually transitioned to doing it full-time. Most recently, Thomas has taught as a substitute teacher at his local high school, and he’s working towards becoming a certified teacher.
Thomas started tutoring in high school. He has taught test prep (SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE), high school science (chemistry, physics), and middle school through college-level math (algebra, geometry, statistics, calculus, and differential equations). One of Thomas’s happiest memories of tutoring is helping a student with cerebral palsy and vision impairment pass the physics MCAS exam. “My philosophy with teaching is that EVERY student can do it!” Thomas says. While his tutoring style is tailored to each student, Thomas always works to enforce fundamental concepts and build up to more complex problem-solving based on those fundamentals. “I love math and I love to share that passion and knowledge with other people,” Thomas says. “I am very patient and understanding in all aspects of my life, but especially with teaching.”
Thomas enjoys hiking, fishing, cooking, and game development. “I also like being at home with my cat Angelo, and working on personal coding projects as well as cooking for myself and others,” Thomas shares. He has been studying botany on his own since college and has successfully identified over 400 species of plants.
