Yasmin's Bio

Yasmin’s unique educational path has made her dedicated to finding ways to connect technical skills to education and make complex ideas more accessible to learners. First, entering college, she had much peer and private tutoring experience. Then, she earned a BS in computer science and a BA in media studies (she was a double major) from Wellesley College. As she worked at Wellesley as a teaching assistant in computer science and user-experience design courses, she began to see how powerfully technology can be mobilized to help learners.
After graduating, Yasmin worked in software development within large-scale financial systems. Then, as she began to merge her interests in technological and educational fields, she worked as a Tech Education Intern with ReDI School of Digital Integration in Germany, supporting digital skills training for refugee and migrant communities. Next, Yasmin became a teaching fellow at the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh. In this role, she taught and supported underserved students in fundamental academic skills and helped strengthen their transition into higher education. In addition, she assisted in the development of a math center at AUW and a professional communications skills workshop series. Now, Yasmin brings her experience in and dedication to the intersection of technology, education, and equity to StudyPoint.
Yasmin’s experiences with such a diverse array of students have shown her that effective teaching requires flexibility, empathy, and adaptation. Knowing that all students learn differently and may come from vastly different circumstances, Yasmin first seeks to understand her students’ needs. She says, “I often reframe ideas in multiple ways, connect new material to prior knowledge, and encourage students to articulate their thinking step-by-step so I can better understand and respond to their reasoning.” From there, Yasmin strives to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and comfortable engaging with mistakes as part of the learning process. This builds engagement with students, and as Yasmin notes, “Confidence and conceptual clarity go hand-in-hand.”
Outside of work, Yasmin has always been drawn to creative and exploratory ventures. In high school, she was part of the swim team and earned All-American recognition for her participation on the debate team. Now, she loves traveling off the beaten path and pushing herself beyond her comfort zone to experience new things. In doing so, she tends to experience the world by creating - whether that is with a camera, through code, or by working with people directly.
