PrepNow Tutor - Kylar B.
Kylar calls himself a “down-to-earth intellectual with a passion for engineering.” He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and currently works full-time for a manufacturing and engineering services company. Despite his busy schedule as an engineer, he has also actively sought out teaching and tutoring opportunities. Indeed, Kylar has years of experience teaching classes on admissions testing and has tutored over 100 testing students one-on-one both remotely and in-person.
Kylar explains his dedication to education plainly: “I believe education makes the world a better place.” As such, he takes his role as an educator seriously, focusing on positivity and measured introspection. He says, “I enjoy making students think about why they are doing or learning something, as opposed to forcing students to just go through the motions.” He believes that great teachers must be passionate and also has noted that passion encourages students to engage in their own education more personally.
When he finds time away from his career pursuits, Kylar is usually doing something active. He played varsity hockey in high school and still loves to get out on the ice. In addition, he plays golf, loves to backpack, and enjoys pretty much anything outdoors. In fact, he touts, he has gotten so good at kayaking that he can now perform a whitewater roll.
