PrepNow Tutor - Eric V.
Eric has a long history as a middle and high school math teacher, an in-house tutor of most subjects, and a test prep instructor. He earned a BA in English language and literature from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Eric also has two additional graduate degrees from Gordon College: an MEd in curriculum, instruction, and assessment (with a secondary math focus) and an EdS in educational leadership.
While his main subject is math, Eric has also taught English, theatre, physical education, and Bible studies. "I am currently the Math Curriculum Coordinator for Rockport High School and the Coordinator of the Senior Internship Program," he shares. He has taught a variety of math courses: elementary math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and statistics. Regarding test prep, he has ten years of experience tutoring one-on-one and instructing courses at test prep centers.
As to his teaching style, Eric has high standards with a relaxed and welcoming demeanor. "I like to have conversations with students while teaching, guiding them through a process and helping them along the way, instead of me just telling them how to do something," he offers. He is patient, observant, and detail-oriented to ensure students leave each session feeling more confident and prepared.
In high school, Eric participated in basketball, student government, and theatre. Currently, he enjoys listening to music, following Boston sports, and watching movies. "I also direct musical theatre productions in the summer, most recently Matilda and School of Rock," he says.
Eric also loves spending time with his family. He notes, "My proudest teaching moment was teaching my son to ride a bicycle!"
Fun fact: Eric has been working on a novel for approximately 20 years.
