PrepNow Tutor - Christine I.
Christine earned her bachelor’s in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to her undergraduate coursework, she has also completed the medical assistant and physical therapy aide programs with the United States Career Institute, as well as her instructor certification in CPR and First Aid.
Christine’s introduction to tutoring occurred in middle school when a respected teacher asked her to tutor her son. As a result of her teachers’ encouragement and influence, she hopes to inspire a love of learning in others. She has tutored students in a number of different subjects including K–12 math, English, writing and Spanish. When asked about her approach to working with students, Christine shared that she teaches and tutors “respectfully,” and she believes that each student is capable of learning via “effort and persistence.” “I want students to understand rather than memorize because students who think have an easier time remembering what they've learned,” Christine says.
During her high school years, Christine was active in sports and academic/service programs. She participated in tennis, track and field, and badminton, and she was a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. In college, Christine continued to participate in track and field and joined Rotaract. She tutored for the Kerry's Kids Program through Children's Hospital Oakland and the RISE program at Berkeley High School. These days, Christine enjoys reading, dancing, singing, exercising, traveling, and figure skating. Fun fact: Christine lives on an island.
