PrepNow Tutor - Jason M.
Jason has enjoyed tutoring with StudyPoint since 2010 and has worked with well over 100 students. Having scored in the top 99th percentile of the SAT, he knows his way around the test! He is also well-versed in the ACT, GMAT, and high school math and physics courses. In addition to tutoring, Jason also works as a financial analyst—numbers are his thing! He graduated MIT in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in economics. He has a master's in business administration from Boston College and 10+ years of experience working in the financial industry.
Jason takes an off-the-cuff approach to his tutoring; he’s not afraid to improvise to fit his students’ needs. “I love making connections with students—that feeling you get when you know the student is hanging on to your every word and actually retaining the information you're sharing,” says Jason. He firmly believes in learning by doing. He likes to experiment and share what he has learned—particularly his mistakes—so that his students can avoid those pitfalls from the get-go. In his view, examining and learning from mistakes is the key to becoming a life-long learner.
Throughout his early life, Jason played volleyball, basketball, and casual street hockey. While earning his BS in mechanical engineering, he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. Nowadays, he enjoys anything from board games to high-octane athletic games. “If you're looking for a marathon-training buddy, I'm your guy!” he says.
