PrepNow Tutor - Brianna C.
Brianna holds a teaching license in chemistry and has been teaching physical science (physics and chemistry) for three years. She has also created multiple-choice exams and assessments, which means she knows the ins and outs of honing a student’s test-taking skills. She graduated from Boston University with a BA in international relations. After college, she worked as a medical assistant in dermatology. A lifelong learner, she went back to school and earned an MS in medical science from the University of Vermont.
Brianna’s style is adaptable and tuned to the student's needs. “Students are all unique in their learning styles and personalities,” she says. She encourages them to discuss their thoughts and ask questions as they arise. That way, she can use their strengths to overcome weaknesses. Her playful sense of humor puts her students at ease and shows them they’re on the same team. “It’s important to provide a rigorous academic environment but also show my students I’m a real person, with interests and hobbies, who cares about them as people,” she says. This kind of approach allows them to develop a sense of lightheartedness around schoolwork and learning—a lightheartedness that can foster tenacity and resilience.
In high school, Brianna played volleyball and softball and was a member of the National Honors Society. At Boston University, Brianna was selected to be a Dean's Host, a student mentor for peers and prospective students. She was also a member of a student-run medical organization focused on providing healthcare to underserved communities throughout the world.
Brianna loves all things unicorn! A unicorn piñata, Dr. Sparkles, lives in her classroom and, at times, steps in as a teaching assistant. When she’s not working with students, she’s practicing the piano, gardening, or hiking with her dog, Lincoln.
