PrepNow Tutor - Miranda M.

Miranda has experience tutoring AP biology, AP microeconomics and macroeconomics, honors precalculus, and algebra. She has been helping students boost their SAT and ACT scores for 8 years. “I love tutoring because it brings students a positive point of view on what they might be struggling with,” says Miranda. “Having an impartial third party believe in them makes a big difference in their confidence.”
Miranda started tutoring her junior year of college where she helped high school students in math, biology, psychology, and French at her university’s learning center. While in college, she earned the title of NCAA DII Academic All American and was a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in psychology. “I know how difficult it can be to struggle with a subject and the frustration of not being able to reach your goals,” she says. Since graduating college with a BS in psychology and a minor in biology, Miranda has enjoyed training and competing for Team USA’s track and field team. She earned a spot at the 2016 Olympics! Even while competing, she worked as a tutor and a behavioral therapist for children on the spectrum.
Miranda takes an easygoing approach to her tutoring. “My students already put a lot of pressure on themselves, and often need some reassurance they are capable,” she says. She understands that each student requires a different approach, so she’s partial to playing chameleon. “If my explanations are not working, I am will try alternative ones and look up new solutions if necessary to help my students,” she says.
Miranda has broken two American records and has earned the title of National Champion 14 times! Her athletic successes have taken her around the globe to about twenty different countries—so far, her favorite spots are Peru, Japan, and Italy. When Miranda’s not tutoring, training, or traveling, you can usually catch her outside enjoying the sun and fresh air with loved ones, relaxing at the beach, or hoofing it on hikes.
