PrepNow Tutor - Larry L.
An engineer and math specialist, Larry holds a BS in electrical engineering from Yangtze University and an MS in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. For over ten years, he worked as a college instructor, teaching electrical engineering and technical English, before transitioning to acting as Vice President of Sales and Operations for a company for twenty-five years. He is currently working as a partner at a venture capital company and tutoring test prep.
Larry started teaching in 1987 after graduating from college and being asked to stay on as a lecturer. “I loved and still love to teach and study with students, especially because of their eagerness for new knowledge,” Larry says. In addition to his decade of teaching, Larry has tutored many students on the SAT, ACT, GRE, and TOEFL.
Now that Larry is partly retired, he’s eager to resume tutoring, particularly in test prep. “Education is the best and shortest way for youngsters to realize their dreams, and tutoring can support this dream.” Larry’s tutoring style is hands-on and coach-like. He prefers to act as a guide while often letting his students lead, which allows them to gain agency in their own learning process.
As a student, Larry was active in jogging and swimming. He won the No. 1 award for the State Level College English Competition, hosted by the state education authority. Larry is now an avid golfer with a single-digit handicap. “I know education is the key to a successful and happy society,” Larry says.
