PrepNow Tutor - Ramsey W.
With a broad range of tutoring experience, Ramsey has mostly worked with high school students in math, but he has also taught students in college and middle school. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, where he majored in statistics and received a certificate in actuarial science. After graduating, he worked as an actuary at Georgia Farm Bureau for five years. Currently, Ramsey is tutoring while pursuing a career in data science.
Ramsey began tutoring peers and underclassmen as a high schooler. He also tutored people one-on-one during college, especially in math classes such as calculus and algebra. Ramsey's proudest moment as a tutor was seeing a student exceed their expectations on a test. "He was incredibly happy with it and so was I because I did feel like I helped him pass that class and I saw how much he improved throughout the year," shares Ramsey.
"As a tutor, I try to be flexible and pay attention to how my student is responding to my lessons," says Ramsey. "I try to cater my approach to their needs and how well they seem to be responding to it." He strives to be motivated, upbeat, and funny in his approach, making learning a more vibrant and memorable experience.
In high school, Ramsey was a Star Student, an award given to the student with the highest SAT score; furthermore, his stellar grades earned him a Presidential Scholarship to UGA.
Outside the classroom, Ramsey played soccer and ran track and cross country—he still enjoys long-distance running and walking. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games with friends.
Fun fact: Ramsey ran a marathon at Disney World when he was 18 years old!
