PrepNow Tutor - Amber C.

Amber has over four years of experience offering guidance and encouragement to students struggling with maths and sciences. She has experience teaching AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP Chemistry, and SAT prep to 11th and 12th graders; she has also worked with 9th graders in algebra and geometry.
She earned a BS in biochemistry and cell biology from Rice University. After graduating, she has been working in a research lab and applying to graduate schools.
Her tutoring journey began in high school when she helped international students in her class better understand lectures. She’s proud to have seen her pupils grow their confidence and increase their grades.
She defines her teaching style as “patient and student-centered.” Focusing on process over product—critical thinking over answers—helps students learn on a deeper level and garner the confidence to face tests with less stress.
Her stellar grades at Rice University earned her a spot on the President's Honor Roll. She was also a board member of the Humane Society Houston club at Rice, where she walked dogs and socialized cats.
An avid animal lover, she fosters cats through a local shelter. “So far, I've cared for around 20 cats, all of whom have found their forever homes,” she shares. When she’s not tutoring students and petting cats, she enjoys playing guitar and serving as a youth group leader at her church.
