PrepNow Tutor - Ronan M.
Ronan has tutored a variety of subjects, including English and statistics, and has spent time in the classroom as a student teacher. He received his BSEd in English from West Chester University (Grades 7-12) in 2023; after a brief break, he returned to West Chester to pursue his MA in English and currently works as a graduate assistant. "I mentor students every week, as well as compile student research, to develop collegiate programs and workshops that meet their needs," he shares.
He began tutoring in his junior year of high school as part of a Buddies program. He proudly notes, "I found my passion for teaching and tutoring then, which carried over into my collegiate career and life path!"
Ronan tutored Statistics 1 at WCU from 2021 to 2022. He also student-taught English, mainly 11th grade, with instruction and support in 9th, 10th, and 12th grades, in 2023. "I developed and directed a student mentorship program from 2020 to 2023, and I currently mentor/tutor students as a Graduate Assistant in various subjects, but mainly English," he explains.
Ronan's proudest moment was when he was student teaching in 2023: "I had a student end the class with an A- after beginning with a D when I first met him. We worked together the entire semester, and he told me at the end that I helped him get to where he finished."
Ronan describes his teaching and tutoring style as attentive, interactive, and accommodating. "Through my experiences in teaching, mentoring, tutoring, and observing, I have learned various subtle techniques to ensure engagement, comprehension, and enjoyment from students I work with," he says. "I believe all students deserve to feel welcome, safe, and encouraged to voice their own thoughts in the learning environment I create as an educator."
Ronan earned many accolades during his educational career. He won awards for being a top education student, for having the highest GPA in the English department, and for having outstanding service to the community. "I recently completed the Level 3 Master Tutor training program at the WCU Learning Assistance and Resource Center," he says. This certification is recognized internationally by the College Reading and Learning Association.
In high school, Ronan was part of the swim team and sang in his school's choir. In college, he was a part of a community service organization. "I am a musician, and I sing and play guitar and bass in a band," he says. Fun facts: Ronan is a twin and a cat dad.
