Organizational psychologist Chuka is passionate about helping people learn, develop, and grow. Whether in the classroom or beyond, he loves helping others reach new heights. Chuka earned his bachelor’s in pre-medical studies at Cornell University where he was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega—the national service fraternity. He then attended University of Southern California where he received his master’s in organizational psychology.
Since college, Chuka has worked consistently both as an organizational psychology consultant and as a tutor in STEM subjects. “I got started teaching and tutoring by combining my passion for helping others learn with opportunities that naturally came my way—first through peer support in school, and later in more formal roles,” he explains. With time, however, he found that he enjoyed “breaking down complex topics and making them more accessible.” That realization led him to take on more structured teaching and curriculum design roles.
“I’ve always had a strong aptitude for math, which naturally led me to support others in the subject over the years,” Chuka says. His first tutoring experience was as a high school student tutoring peers in algebra and geometry with a focus on learners with special testing and learning accommodations. As an undergrad, he served as a teaching assistant in various science courses. After Cornell, he began teaching STEM and standardized testing content to high school students, reinforcing core math concepts and test-taking strategies. “Across all roles, I’ve emphasized accessible, student-centered instruction that adapts to diverse learning needs.”
Chuka’s teaching style is patient, supportive, and focused on building students’ confidence. “I believe that every student is capable of learning and excelling when given the right tools, strategies, and encouragement.” To facilitate this learning experience, he creates a “low-pressure environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow.” He is especially skilled at teaching problem-solving strategies that allow students to approach SAT and ACT with confidence. As he says, “My philosophy is rooted in the idea that learning is not just about mastering content—it’s about developing the belief that you can succeed.”
Outside of work, Chuka loves anything that lets him express himself or stay active. He played basketball through high school and college and still enjoys working out. He’s also drawn to hobbies that challenge his brain and push him to learn new things, whether it’s exploring music production tools, trying a new sport, or diving into a random topic just to understand how it works. He’s also a fan of thrifting and loves to find rare clothing. “I enjoy staying curious and constantly growing, both mentally and creatively.”
