PrepNow Tutor - Therrin W.
Therrin has experience tutoring math, biology, chemistry, and physics to students of various ages. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2019 with a bachelor's in biochemistry and also has two years of schooling in optometry. In addition to tutoring, he works in the field of optometry and ophthalmology, "Helping people with the gift of sight!"
Therrin started tutoring when he was in college after noticing that many of his friends came to him for help in multiple subjects. "My proudest moments are watching students comprehend something that they've always struggled with and seeing a student's test grades improve," he says. He has tutored include math, introductory physics, all levels of biology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry.
Therrin's approach is fine-tuned to each student's interests along with particular strengths and weaknesses. "I usually use inductive reasoning for younger students (taking a small point and tying it into the larger scope) and deductive reasoning for older students (taking a broad point and breaking it down to basic elements)," he explains. Ultimately, he hopes his students can confidently master complex concepts and approach future challenges on their own.
In high school, Therrin ran track, played football, and was part of the robotics team. Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis and reading. "I absolutely love Asian food—especially Japanese, yum!"
