PrepNow Tutor - Isaac K.
A comprehensive tutor and PLC programmer, Isaac holds a BS in psychology from Wayne State University. They have been tutoring math and science since 2020. Throughout their tutoring career, Isaac has worked with hundreds of students, and every student they’ve tutored privately in college-level math and science has received an A in their classes.
In math, they have taught arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra I&II, geometry, AP and college-level statistics, and pre-calculus. In science, they’ve taught up to college-level physics. “I have an extensive amount of experience in rewording concepts, both fundamental and complex,” Isaac says. Isaac loves helping students grasp topics they've been struggling with, as well as when a student realizes that math isn’t arbitrary but applies to the world as a whole.
“Most topics, on being introduced, need to be explained outright,” Isaac says when asked about their tutoring style. “After a topic has been introduced, deeper understanding is best found by a person discovering things for themselves, so I ask a lot of leading questions. Whats, whens, and hows are all good, but whys are best because why-questions drill into the purpose and the mechanics of the thing.” Isaac notes that it’s, of course, still important to reexplain things now and again, particularly when a student has forgotten how to do something or is struggling with a core concept.
Isaac has a dog named Wednesday. When not working, they like to read and support their local community.
