PrepNow Tutor - Anaanya N.
A musician and scientist, Anaanya holds a BS cum laude in neuroscience and a BA cum laude in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. Anaanya started tutoring in high school, first teaching piano lessons before branching out into core academic subjects and ACT/SAT prep. “I love to teach and help my students improve,” Anaanya says. Since graduating from college, Anaanya has been tutoring professionally.
“I would describe my teaching style as creative and interdisciplinary,” Anaanya says. “Many of the skills I utilize come from my background in music; because of this background, I have extra insights on the learning process and what it takes to truly master something.” Anaanya’s main philosophies for tutoring are that meaningful learning is done through practice and that the best teaching is approached from multiple angles. In addition to tutoring, Anaanya has worked as a teaching assistant in the University of Pittsburgh Neuroscience Department.
Anaanya’s proudest achievement is getting published in an academic journal. “I was a co-author on a paper published in Cancer,” she shares. “In addition, I have worked in multiple research labs.” She was on the dean's list several semesters, was a member of the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band for four years, and was Vice President of the Gamma Omega chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority. Anaanya loves being a musician and enjoys playing in ensembles or by herself. She also loves to write, enjoys going to the gym and hiking, as well as attending sports games. “I can play 5 instruments: piano, bassoon, flute, piccolo, and ukulele."
