PrepNow Tutor - Anthony K.
Anthony was a high school athletic trainer before moving into the classroom. He earned a BS in exercise and sports science from Fitchburg State University as well as an MS in athletic training from Bridgewater State University. He has been a 9th-grade biology teacher since 2021 and has also been tutoring biology for the MCAS, Massachusetts standardized tests.
Anthony got into teaching during COVID, when the need for teachers was at its highest. "There was an opportunity to get right into the classroom, and I took it," he says. "It was probably the best career decision I could have made!" Anthony's proudest teaching moments are when former students come back and tell him how much they miss the class. "They might not see it at the moment, but knowing I made a positive and lasting impact on the students is something I strive for every day," he exclaims.
Anthony describes his teaching style as student-led and student-focused. "I really strive to get into my students' heads and make sure I'm tailoring my lessons in a way that will help them understand the best," he explains. "Once they feel confident, I strive to expand what they know."
In high school, Anthony played varsity baseball; in college, he was a member of the Exercise and Sports Science club. These days, he prioritizes spending time with his daughter and wife and enjoying the outdoors; he also loves watching and playing baseball, basketball, and golf.
