PrepNow Tutor - Ujwal B.
Ujwal began helping other students before he even knew his own academic pathway, working with elementary students on math and reading through a program with his highschool. Thereafter, as he earned his BS in biomedical sciences with a minor in bioinformatics from Texas A&M University, Ujwal worked as a supplemental instructor in the physics department. In this role, he tutored students in one-on-one and group settings, relishing the opportunity to help his peers succeed and grow academically.
In his instructional roles, Ujwal has found that students must find their own paths to academic achievement and understands that tutoring is about helping students identify what works for them. He also believes in a student-led approach that stresses problem-solving skills. Ujwal says, “I often work with students to explain their thought processes out loud, helping them identify what strategies work best for them.” Once he and a student both feel confident in their diagnosis, Ujwal prepares multiple explanations and problem-solving approaches for each topic. Ultimately, he builds all instruction on a foundation of core concepts, intuitive understanding, and adaptability rather than rote memorization.
In his free time, Ujwal is quite a musician, as he can play flute, guitar, and piano—he played flute in his high-school marching band, and he leans a bit more toward guitar-playing these days. He also stays quite active, participating recreationally in 5K and 10K races and seizing any opportunity to take a good hike. Though he has seen many beautiful sights, his favorite hike so far was at Upper Yosemite Falls. Finally, in truly down time, Ujwal likes to read history books and watch A24 films.
