A mental health therapist, Hannah has ample experience tutoring and coaching teenagers in math, history, and English; she specializes in math instruction and learning challenges. Hannah attended Hamilton College for her undergraduate degree, earning a BA in geoscience with a minor in mathematics. She later earned an MS in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Vermont; she also took college-level courses at Dartmouth College and Southern New Hampshire University. In addition to tutoring, Hannah currently practices as a clinical mental health counselor, seeing teens and adults, with a specialization in anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma.
Hannah has worked in the helping profession since college. She was first a behavioral support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and also held a position as a high school special education assistant. "I then worked as a research assistant at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry, focusing on adolescents, before returning to graduate school to obtain my own degree to practice," she notes.
As an executive function coach, she helped students who had executive functioning deficits and attention challenges, particularly regarding math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics). As a special education assistant, she helped students with IEPs and was also a lacrosse coach. "My proudest moment was seeing a student go from struggling to complete assignments to being confident in his ability to succeed without additional supports," she shares.
Hannah is passionate about helping teens and young adults succeed in the classroom and has specialized experience working with neurodiverse and gender diverse students. She strives to meet each student where they are in both their academic and emotional needs. "I am informed by my practice as a therapist, in which I believe in empowering the student with the knowledge and tools they need to feel confident in their ability to succeed and answer questions," she explains.
In high school, Hannah was president of the school chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and she played piano and lacrosse. In college, she continued with lacrosse and was also on the executive board of the student environmental action group, as well as a member of the college's community farm. Her academic excellence earned her a regular spot on the dean's list.
Currently, she loves cooking, traveling, reading, playing with her dogs, exploring outdoors, and enjoying family time. Fun fact: Hannah makes her own sourdough bread.
