Raahim's Bio

With a vast tutoring background across all K-12 subjects, Raahim has helped students with classwork (English, math, sciences), writing college essays, and standardized testing. He received a BS in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was on the dean’s list multiple semesters and graduated cum laude. Raahim started tutoring in college and continued to tutor professionally with various companies before returning to graduate school. As of winter 2026, he's pursuing a master’s in chemical engineering (with a focus in materials science), and he continues to tutor in his available time.

Raahim's passion for teaching started when he was very young. "My grandfather, a professor at the time, showed me the value of having a good mentor and educator to guide inquiry beyond meeting standardized state criteria," he recounts. "Over time, I developed my teaching skills as a peer tutor and eventually entered the professional tutoring industry." In particular, Raahim tutored biology and chemistry courses as an undergraduate. Upon graduating, he then did some freelance tutoring on a marketplace website that connects families with caregivers; in this capacity, he helped dozens of students with urgent academic needs across all grade levels K-12, including test prep for the SAT and ACT. The bulk of his experience comes from a tutoring company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he specialized in test prep and AP science exams.

"While I’m immensely proud of my work with all of my students, helping a young student with significant learning challenges go from failing to straight As, along with helping them achieve their target scores on admissions exams, has been the highlight of my career," Raahim says. "It is one of the reasons I want to continue a career in education in my long-term future."

Raahim believes in his students taking an active role in their education; he does not simply deliver information for the student to note. "I challenge all of my students to defend their answers, even when they’re wrong; I encourage my students to investigate WHY an answer is correct, which will allow them to see how they can improve," he posits. "I am a firm believer in strengthening critical thinking skills, and I engage students in higher-level thinking and investigation as they progress."

In high school, Raahim participated in band and club soccer. He also took part in several UIL scholastic competitions as well as the Science Olympiad. In high school, he was a National Merit Semifinalist, and upon graduation, was named a National AP Scholar for earning stellar grades on all of his AP exams.

In college, Raahim played intramural soccer and was heavily involved in UT’s Hiking Club; he enjoyed Austin’s many gorgeous trails and climbs. He also worked in philanthropy organizations. "As an upperclassman, I participated in iGEM, a synthetic biology competition where I had the opportunity to work under the instruction of incredibly talented faculty at the cutting edge of science," he adds.

In his free time, he likes experimenting with music production and discussing all things music with close friends. He's also a fan of passion projects, like investigating new materials for atmospheric water harvesting using modern neural networks, and general exploration. "I absolutely love to travel, and I especially love the outdoors," he says. "I always take the 'path less travelled' whenever I can."
