PrepNow Tutor - Hannan A.
Hannan specializes in middle and high school math and also has copious experience working with students in SAT and ACT math. His background in mechanical engineering has helped him become a strong problem solver and taught him how to break complex problems into simpler steps. He earned a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in May 2026, and, since graduating, has been tutoring middle and high school math while applying for mechanical engineering jobs.
Hannan began tutoring in middle school, when he helped peers and lowerclassmen in all things math. He continued tutoring math and other subjects throughout high school. “I truly enjoy the moment when a student and I have been working through a difficult problem, and I am able to help them fully understand it,” he shares.
Hannan describes his tutoring style as supportive and interactive. “I like to help students through problems by asking questions, breaking concepts into smaller steps, and helping them understand the reasoning behind each answer,” he explains. He aims to foster a safe learning environment where students can ask questions freely and learn from missteps. “I think students learn best when they feel comfortable making mistakes,” he adds. Above all, he hopes to promote confidence and a love of learning.
As a student, Hannan played basketball and was on the track team for two years. In college, he played myriad intramural sports, but mainly basketball and football. He was also part of the INDUS student organization, which raised awareness and funding for a free hospital in Pakistan.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing sports, hiking, and traveling to national parks. “I also really enjoy learning and working on cars, which led me to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering!”
Fun outdoorsy fact: “I have climbed two mountains in the last year and plan to climb many more in the upcoming years.”
