PrepNow Tutor - Emma C.
A patient and passionate tutor, Emma prides herself on being a people person. She started her college career at Mesa Community College but then transferred to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she obtained a BS in mathematics. She thrives on sharing her passion for math with students.
Emma's first foray into tutoring was in high school when she worked with ELA students in reading, writing, speaking, and grammar. Her dedication earned her an Outstanding Student Teacher award from her education teacher. Since then, she has tutored algebra, trigonometry, and calculus at both Mesa Community College and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Emma's approach relies on visualization to make complex concepts more approachable. " "Mathematics is very visual," she explains. "The way I like to tutor is through explanation with visual representation," says Emma. She has noticed that students can actually "see" what she is explaining, and visualization is a good accompaniment to her verbal explanations. She wants her students to leave each session feeling greater mastery over seemingly intimidating topics.
In high school, Emma was on the soccer team and ran track. She loves to relax by playing with her son, reading, watching true crime shows, listening to podcasts, and cooking (particularly baking). A lover of travel, Emma has been to Mexico thirteen times!
