PrepNow Tutor - Michael M.
Michael has helped countless students in subjects ranging from high school math to business calculus and calculus III. He holds a BS and an MS in mathematics from Arkansas State University. Upon graduating, he started a part-time job as a bank teller; in addition to tutoring, he is a full-time bank teller.
Michael started teaching math in junior high school when Michael's math teacher asked him to tutor her own son. "I love helping people who have trouble with math understand that it is actually very easy," says Michael. He has tutored the following subjects: elementary school math, algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, business calculus, and calculus I, II, and III. Michael is proud to report that he has helped many struggling students pass their math classes.
Michael likes to break everything down into steps and go one step at a time according to his student's comprehension. After that, he and the student rework and practice many of the same question types in different forms. "Most people will do something once and not fully grasp it. While if you repeatedly do the question in different forms, it will give more practice," he explains. He ensures the student grows to feel confident and enjoys applying new concepts in math.
In high school, Michael played football. Currently, he likes to bake and learn new recipes. "I also play card games because I feel like they're also good ways to use your math skills," he offers.
